This project was started in the early nineties by modifying Squash (Cucurbita) fruit to create an
alternative packaging for plastic bottles in the cosmetics industry. Squash and Calabash are
generally smaller compared to bottle gourds and are harder to cure.
Later on, varieties of bottle gourds (Lagenaria siceraria) or Calabash in a variety of shapes and
